Sharon donates Artwork to New Bournemouth Hospital Unit
Sharon has presented a major piece of artwork to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s new Women’s Health Unit, in preparation for its opening in October this year.
The artwork was created by 50 local women who utilised the lace, ribbons, silks & bows, taken from bras at a creative workshop held at Captains Club Hotel.
Sharon proudly enthuses “The ethos behind the project was to empower women who maintain their femininity and identity no matter what health issues they face. We had ladies both supporting and enduring breast cancer at the workshop and I felt truly privileged to see them engrossed in the materials provided at the workshop. They made some spectacular butterflies, which symbolises transformation and growth and the result is this wonderful artwork”.
The artwork will go on display in the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s new Breast Counselling Room at the WHU, which was made possible through donations and fundraising from two Jigsaw Appeals and Bournemouth Hospital Charity, as well as NHS funds.
The Worshipful The Mayor & Mayoress of Bournemouth, Councillor John Adams JP & Mrs. Adams attended the presentation. Breast Care Nurse, Christine Weight, says “Both the staff and patients are so excited and very grateful to Sharon for her kind donation to the new unit. It will be an amazing environment containing Sharon’s beautiful artwork, which will take pride of place in our new counseling room”.
